Mission Statement

The mission of the business-led Advanced Energy Buyers Group is to engage on policies that make it possible for non-residential energy users to meet their own energy needs with advanced energy through simple, flexible, market-based solutions; and to support policies that facilitate the transition to an electricity system that is secure, clean, resilient, smart, and affordable.

Guiding Principles

The work of the AE Buyers Group is informed by six guiding principles:

1. Customers should have a broad array of choices

Customers in all states should have a broad array of choices to pursue advanced energy to meet their particular needs.

2. Options should work for companies of all sizes and sectors

Options to pursue advanced energy should work and be available for companies large and small across all market sectors, as well as municipal, non-profit, and educational entities.

3. Options should be transparent, simple, flexible, and market-based

Options to pursue advanced energy in all jurisdictions should be transparent, simple, flexible, and market-based, and should allow for competitive procurement.

4. Customers should receive any cost savings, and all other benefits

Customers should realize both the cost savings and all other benefits from their purchases of renewable energy and other advanced energy technologies.

5. Customer actions should not adversely impact others

Voluntary customer purchase of renewable energy and other advanced energy technologies should not adversely impact other customers.

6. Markets should enable innovation and cost efficiencies

Federal and state market and regulatory structures should enable innovation and cost efficiencies, and should facilitate the transition to a more secure, flexible, clean, and affordable energy system.
